Temporary motorhome banning order having an effect

A six-month Experimental Traffic Order banning overnight camping on the South Promenade at Aberystwyth is already deterring motorhome owners from the area. The order prohibits motor caravans and caravans from parking on the sea front between the hours of 11pm and 8am. It was put in place after complaints from local residents and two restaurants on the seafront, that motorhomes and caravans were being parked on the promenade for extended periods of time, were emptying waste into the sewer and using the rubbish bins.

The order is only temporary and runs until 23 September this year, at which point the council will have the option to let it lapse or to make it permanent, based on feedback from the public. That being the case, this is your chance to register an objection.

A council spokesman said, “Members of the public who wish to object to this prohibition may write in formally to the authority by 23 September 2015. After this date, a decision may be made to either make permanent, amend or remove the prohibition.”
