A Lidl surprise this motorhomer wasn’t expecting

When MMM reader John Bell parked his Suntor 630G motorhome in the car park of Wadebridge Lidl to do some shopping, the last thing he was expecting was a parking fine for £50.
Despite stocking up on provisions to the tune of £75, John returned to his motorhome to find he had been penalised for ‘not parking between the lines.’ As John pointed out in his subsequent complaint to Lidl, at over 7m long and 3m high, it was impossible to park within one car parking space.MMM got in touch with Lidl to ask whether this was now company policy to ticket all motorhomes in Lidl car parks and whether they would be cancelling Mr Bell’s parking ticket. The official reply is as follows:
“We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope that Mr Bell has received the letter from our customer service team, which was sent out on the 11th July confirming the cancellation of this charge.
We would like to reassure Mr Bell that action was taken as soon as we were made aware of this particular case. In a small number of our store car parks, we have different systems in place to manage the availability of car parking spaces. We have spoken to the accredited contractor that manages this particular carpark, to remind them that motorhomes parked in the correct manner should not be issued a parking charge notice.
We do encourage any genuine Lidl customers who have received a parking charge notice to get in touch with us directly via our customer services hotline number. Those customers who feel that they have been wrongly charged should then just provide us with proof of purchase and we will appeal the charge on their behalf.”
So, if you pop in to Lidl for some provisions and get a surprise you weren’t expecting, you will be able to have it rescinded, as motorhomers are still welcome.
