Motorhome hire fleet to expand and stay younger

Tourism Holdings the largest campervan rental business in Australia and New Zealand, has acquired a 49 per cent of UK-based Just Go, a motorhome rentals and sales business. Founders of Just Go, Nick and Sarah Roach, will retain a controlling 51 percent stake and continue to manage the business.

"JusChief Exec, Grant Webstert Go has a similar model and return on capital as our successful Road Bear RV business in the USA," said Chief Executive of Tourism Holdings, Grant Webster. He added that Daniel Schneider, who was the founder and operator of Road Bear, will become a director of Just Go.

MMM spoke to Just Go founder, Nick Roach who explained that thanks to the boom in the motorhome industry, its motorhome fleet had gone from 95 to 130 vehicles last summer and that with the new investment, more vehicles were going to be added. Nick commented that, “If a country like New Zealand with just 4.5 million people can support a rental fleet of 2,500 then the potential for hire here is massive.”

Another facet of the investment of this was that Just Go had been operating on a vehicle turnover of just 18 months before putting them into the retail channels. With the new investment Nick expected this to fall to just 6 months. Other vehicles were also expected to be transported down to New Zealand to extend the range that Tourism Holdings had for sale.

Just Go team and 100 new motorhomesJust Go is now working with Roller Team at the factory in Italy so that all of its new vehicles would have habitation doors on the left side. As Roller Team has just produced 100 new vehicles for the 2015 fleet, Just Go has been offering a special rental deal to get them all back from Italy to its base in the UK. The Italian Trip included having your car stored at Just Go, being flown over to the factory in Italy and then driving the new vehicle back through Europe before leaving it off with the company, just north of London. The hire fee for each vehicle in the fleet was substantially reduced compared to the usual cost and included flights for two people, European insurance and breakdown cover. At the time of writing, there were seven places left on the scheme, leaving on 8 April and expecting you back on 17 April.
