Britain’s campsites are getting better each year, and increasingly provide visitors with high quality facilities in beautiful locations, according to leading independent campsite rating programme Premier Parks.
In the last year, the number of camping, caravan, and motorhome parks qualifying for the coveted Premier Parks status has grown from 84 to 103, reflecting the relentless move upmarket that is taking place across the outdoor leisure sector. Now in its sixth year, the Premier Parks rating system assesses the range and quality of facilities at each candidate campsite during an annual visit by a dedicated inspector. Factors such as the quality of the lavatories, standards of horticultural maintenance, and attention to environmental protection play a role in the detailed 40-stage assessment process. Other important factors include the general feel of the site and the attractiveness of its location.
“It’s time to recognise that today’s campers demand high-quality facilities and beautifully-maintained sites. Our team of inspectors has travelled the length and breadth of these islands to identify the campsites that qualify for Premier Parks status, and have reported a steady improvement year-on-year. We’re delighted that the number of qualifying sites has increased so much this year, taking the total to over 100 for the first time ever” said Russ Swan, Travel and Parks Editor for Premier Parks administrator Warners Group Publications.
The full list of 2014 Premier Parks can be viewed at www.premier-parks.co.uk . These include campsites in England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland, used by motorhomers, caravanners, and tent campers. Many sites also offer accommodation in holiday lodges, static caravans, camping pods, or in pre-erected tents, yurts, or tipis (‘glamping’).
Warners Group is the leading UK publisher of outdoor leisure magazines, including MMM (Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly), Caravan, and Camping. The Premier Parks assessment system is independent of any tourist board or travel operator.
