A WELSH border caravan holiday home park has been officially opened following the completion of a £750,000 improvement programme.

Welsh Liberal Democrat leader Lembit Opik performed the honours at the five-star Seven Oaks Holiday Home Park at Crew Green near Shrewsbury.

Improvements on the site include a new reception centre with a laundry room and fitness suite and 30 new pitches for holiday homes overlooking the River Severn and surrounding countryside.

Mr Opik, MP for Montgomeryshire and parliamentary adviser to the Caravan Club of Great Britain, said: “If I didn't already live in Montgomeryshire, I would definitely buy a static caravan at Seven Oaks Holiday Home Park.

“It really was a pleasure to spend time with the welcoming, professional staff and some of the nicest holiday folk I have met in the area."

The development increases the number of holiday homes to 100 on the park, which last year won the Wales in Bloom award for the best park with between 50 and 100 caravans.
