Holiday Park starts work on expansion plan

A CARAVAN holiday home park in Wales has started the first phase of an expansion programme.

Derwen Mill Holiday Park, situated on the outskirts of the village of Guilsfield, near Welshpool, will add 20 new holiday homes to the existing 65.

Owners Steve and Tesni Jones have purchased a five-acre field to expand their successful park in a move that defies the credit crunch and shows confidence in the industry.

Mr Jones said: “We have seen economic blips before and we are confident that as soon as the country gets through this current credit crunch, there will be renewed demand for caravan holiday homes. We plan to be ready to meet that demand.

"The feedback that we are getting from people is that they are fed up of airport delays and flight surcharges involved in holidaying abroad. They are looking to spend more holiday time in the UK next year and in the future.”

The park has attracted 10 new owners this year and two of the first phase of six new holiday homes have been reserved. An extra fishing pool will be added to the existing two as part of the new development.
