Folly residents keen to compost

Residents at Folly Park in Bedfordshire don't have to trek out to the garden centre every time they need compost for their gardens – they have all they need on site.

The owners of the residential estate at Clapham, Britannia Parks, installed a compost bin last year so that residents could more easily dispose of their garden waste. Keen gardeners can then take as much compost as they require.

This eases the burden on the local tip and means they don’t need to use their car to get rid of the waste.

Britannia director Richard Sigsworth said the system has been running now for more than 12 months and is working very well.

“It is just one of they ideas Britannia has implemented over the past five years to Folly Park and our other sites to encourage recycling and help residents reduce their carbon footprint.

Folly Park enjoys a frontage on the Great River Ouse and residents have private access to the river and their own fishing platforms.

Britannia runs 19 residential parks across the country, from north Lincolnshire to Cornwall. The latest development is an exclusive park of just nine plots at Radwell, also in Bedfordshire
