FACTSHEETS TELL PARK-HOME OWNERS THEIR RIGHTS
Posted on 08 May 2012OAL StaffThinking of buying or selling a residential park home? Concerned about increases in pitch fees? Considering legal action against your park owner?
If your answer to any of those questions is ‘yes’ then you need to know your rights and obligations under the Mobile Homes Act 1983 in England. And the Government has just issued a series of factsheets which explain them.
The factsheets provide details of changes to legislation affecting park-home owners which were introduced in April 2011. That was when the majority of park-home disputes in England were transferred to the jurisdiction of the Residential Property Tribunal Service.
As well as the topics already mentioned, subjects covered by the factsheets include setting up and running a residents’ association, how to use the Residential Property Tribunal and why the Implied Terms in pitch agreements are so important.
Copies of the factsheets can be downloaded from the Government website at communities.gov.uk/housing/homeownership/parkhomes
