   Mercia Marina
Posted on 25 May 2011Mike ParkerMERCIA Marina in Derbyshire will have two more holiday lodges in place by the end of April in advance of a public open weekend from April 29-May 2.
This follows the sale of the marina’s first three properties and will take the total number of lodges to five. People are welcome to drop in to the marina’s 70-acre site in Findern Lane, Willington, South Derbyshire, any time between 9am and 5pm on those days.
And to help celebrate the Royal Wedding on April 29, open day visitors will be eligible to enter a free prize draw to win a week’s holiday in one of the lodges. There will also be a barbecue and short boat trips for those wishing to soak up the picturesque surroundings.
Mercia Marina was last year granted planning permission to build a total of 18 luxury holiday lodges overlooking the water, plus a £2.5m luxury spa, a boutique hotel and a gastro pub to be called The Lighthouse due to its iconic, nautically influenced tower.
Mercia Marina, which sits on the edge of the Trent & Mersey canal network, is one of the biggest inland marinas in Europe. Its popularity has been boosted by the number and quality of facilities on site, including a chandlery superstore, dry dock, workshop, cafe, shop and shower blocks.
