The Glendale Club, formally known as The Glendale Owners Club, was formed at the Thames Valley Motorhome Show, Slough, in April 1989, and initially comprised 50 owners. Although the last vans were produced in the early 1990s, the club has continued to flourish and attract members as the vehicles change hands, with several founder members still attending rallies. Basically a social club, a varied program of rallies is held each year.

Torcars started by producing campers based on the Austin/Morris A60 half-ton van, & went on to include the Marina, Commer, Sherpa and the Toyota Hi-ace. The club was started at the British Volkswagen Festival of 1991, in response to the growing number of transporter/camper owners. There was already a club for owners of split screen vans - the Split Screen Van Club - but no national club that included the bay or the wedge.

The club purpose is to support owners of all transporters and campers based on the Type 2 Volkswagen van chassis, helping them to keep their vans on the road.
