Detailed ReviewTHE Adora 612DP, a newcomer to the Adria range for 2009. Before you step inside, take a moment to notice the smart darkened windows (a first for Adria) and the neat blue and purple graphics.
Now for something more fundamental; this is a six-metre-plus caravan on a single axle, yet still retaining the excellent towing characteristics for which the Adria marque is renowned.
Step inside and you will find still more outstanding features to impress you. The shower is set just inside the bedroom, with the toilet and washbasin set outside. It’s a different take on the en-suite washroom and allows two people to use the facilities simultaneously.
The kitchen is opposite, with a fawn fronted, Caprice Mk III Spinflo oven, grill and three-burner hob, a fixed drainer and a rectangular sink of ample size.
The U-shaped lounge has a hinged drinks/coffee table at the front; it’s practical and gives a useful layout option. Upholstery is in coolest greys and hints of blue in circles and subtlest swishes. The whole aspect is of clean lines and a clever compromise between the minimalist, continental style and the more traditional look favoured by UK customers.
In response to feedback from British customers, Adria has replaced the continental-style heavy central table with a lightweight, free-standing version.
Lighting features prominently in the Adora range; spotlights abound and you’ll notice cone-shaped bedroom lights in frosted glass, which are also used in the lounge, where they are matched by the curved, frosted glass front to the drinks cabinet. All the controls are here, too, in a panel that’s got style as well as functionality.
Moving into the bedroom presents us with a puzzle: two cream-topped shelves jut out in front of the wardrobes on either side of that delightful island bed - why? To find the answer, go outside and you’ll find exterior hatches on each side. The space created is fantastically versatile.
Slide an awning in here with ease; outdoor furniture or even skis. This locker, also allows you to counterbalance the noseweight by placing weighty items here.
Everything about this Adora is, as we have come to expect from Adria, substantial in construction. As example, the gas bottle locker lid is solid, in contrast to the flexible sort you often find in the interests of weight-saving.
The spare wheel is in here – another reason why you’ll find that exterior-hatched rear locker useful for counterbalance. And there are less obvious distinguishing features – like the caravan sides and roof, made of polyester in the interests of durability. All in all, a caravan packed with practicality and style.
