Tourism and Heritage Minister, John Penrose, will be unveiling the new Ludlow Touring Park during his brief visit to Shropshire on Thursday, April 12.

Local MP Philip Dunne will accompany the Minister during his morning visit to the luxury touring caravan and motorhome park. Morris Leisure have developed the 135-pitch park, which opens to the public on May 9, to five star standards.

It is located on a 20-acre site alongside the River Teme with good road links to the A49 near Richards Castle and represents a £3 million investment by the company. Morris Leisure have also funded realignment works on the A49 junction as part of the new development.

The park will open in time for the Ludlow Spring Food Festival on May 12 and 13, which offers more than 140 real ales, good food, a huge display of classic cars and music inside Ludlow Castle.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone associated with the new park and we are delighted that the Tourism and Heritage Minister has found time in his incredibly busy diary to pay a visit,” said Morris Leisure’s managing director Edward Goddard. “We believe the park is going to enhance the local tourism offer and generate around £1 million a year for Ludlow and the surrounding area, which has got to be good news for the local economy in these challenging times.”

Morris Leisure also own four other caravan parks in Shropshire and Snowdonia - Stanmore Hall Touring Park, Bridgnorth, Oxon Hall Touring and Holiday Home Park, Shrewsbury, Bow House Country Park, Bishops Castle, and Riverside Touring Park, Betws-y-Coed.
