The Caravan Club and caravan manufacturer the Explorer Group have teamed up to find the country’s most enthusiastic tourers. The Explorer of the Year competition was set up five years ago to reward the special achievements of touring trailblazers, and now they want your nominations.

Categories include Domestic Explorer of the Year, European Explorer of the Year, Worldwide Explorer of the Year and Special Achievement Explorer of the Year.

Last year’s winners included Kenneth and Paula Kidd, who were awarded the worldwide title, after swapping their house for a motorhome and travelling over 40,000 miles across America.

Stuart Hicks of the Explorer Group said: “ Each year we receive more and more entries and they just get better and consequently raise the bar in the competition. Last year’s entries we’re both heart warming and inspirational and it really showed how passionate people are about touring.”

All of the category winners will be invited to attend a special gala awards dinner as guests of The Caravan Club in February 2007, at which The Caravan Club Explorer of the Year 2006 will be announced.
