This tent is heavy, man. No, I’m not getting into the festival spirit by adopting the 60s flower power generation’s lingo. It actually is heavy, thanks to its steel poles and cotton canvas. And for festival camping, this could be a bit of a problem. At most festivals you have to lug your gear from the car park and I wouldn’t recommend trying to carry this any sort of distance.

The solution is to transport your equipment in a trolley - and many festivals hire them by the hour. Assuming you can address this weighty issue (sorry), how does it rate as a festival tent?

SoulPad provide the tents for many of the pre-erected ‘glamping’ villages that have sprung up at music events in recent years. And it’s easy to see why they’re popular with the festival crowd. They look good in an alternative, retro kind of way and they feel good too.The cotton canvas and shape hark back to a simpler era, which fits nicely with the back-to-basics ethos of festivals.

But really what matters most when it comes to considering a festival tent is how it meets your needs as a place to sleep during the weekend. The 4000-Ease is a four-berth tent that can easily accommodate two double airbeds. It’s also surprisingly easy to pitch. Simply lay the tent flat on the ground, peg it out, raise the centre pole, fit the A-frame, peg out the guyropes and hey-presto it’s standing. The whole thing took two of us 15 minutes to put up.
