Petzl's line-up for 2006 boasts that key head torch models in the LED range are now 80 per cent brighter than the same spec models from last year. The affected models are the Tikka (pictured) and Zipka.

Additionally, the Tikka Plus and Zipka Plus models now shine more than 30 metres, where previously the figure was 17 metres. This performance leap in a single year completes a programme of steady improvements over six years. A new Tikka today shines almost three times more brightly than a new one at the time of launch in 2000.

Check out the June/July issue of Lakeland Walker, and you could win a head torch. In association with Petzl, we have three Tikka Plus head torches to give away.
