Best places to stay in Europe revealed in second edition of Cool Camping

2180810c-29fd-4e13-92f9-dde86029cfe6

Head for the cool places to stay

The new edition of Cool Camping Europe is out on the 28 May 2015 and now features 100 of the best camping and glamping sites across 12 countries in Europe, from France to Germany to Slovenia, with over 50 new additions - including four sites which have opened in the last year.

The guide features traditional tent and campervan camping alongside a mix of unique glamping options including the best yurts, tipis, safari tents and domes throughout Europe; showcasing the very best of continental camping. From the tip of Portugal’s Algarve to the shady forests of Slovenia, this book uncovers campsites with individuality and personality - a real alternative to European mega-camps.

Founder of Cool Camping Jonathan Knight said,“Searches for European camping and glamping destinations more than doubled last year on the Cool Camping site, so there’s clearly a growing demand. Of course, France is still the favourite destination, but it’s great to see British campers blazing a trail to more unexpected areas of Europe, such as the Bavarian countryside and the stunning Croatian coast.”

Out of 50 new discoveries, the following campsites have opened in the past year:
  • Forest Days Glamping, Catalonia, Spain- nestled under a shady canopy of trees, surrounded by rolling farmland and pine-clad mountains, this small-but-perfectly-formed campsite in northeastern Spain offers a handful of fully-furnished bell tents, each well separated for a truly private experience. After nights spent under-canvas, visit nearby waterfalls, swimming lakes and charming old towns, or simply kick back in camp and indulge in homemade breakfasts delivered to the tent door.
  • Glisten Camping, Aquitaine Region, France - a natural woodland site set in the foothills of the La Rhone Mountain in the southwestern corner of France, surrounded by pebbled streams, enchanting pine forests and traditional villages. Accommodation comes in the form of ultra-modern geodesicdomes, each complete with partitioned bedrooms, playful hanging beds for kids and colourful Fatboy bean-bags. Hop on board a vintage train for a family trip into the Pyrenees, or relax on-site where little campers can freely explore the playground and small farm.
  • Green Mountain Yurt, Andalucía, Spain - set in a large wildflower garden in the Sierra Nevada National Park, amongst blossoming trees and sun-scorched grasses, sits a single secluded Mongolian eco-yurt; ideal for couples after an off-grid rural hideaway. Wile away the hours in camp with lazy lunches filled with produce from the on-site vegetable patch, head out on canyoning adventures or take in sweeping views whilst bathing in mountain streams and waterfalls. What’s more, a culture fix at Granada is within striking distance (75 minute drive), where you can visit the world famous Alhambra.

The Second Edition of Cool Camping Europe (out on 28 May 2015, £18.95) paints an inspirational picture of hand-picked sites through insightful reviews, glossy images and plenty of handy tips on places of interest, local activities, useful phrases and each  camp’s ‘cool factor’. Featured countries include: Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Portugal, Slovenia, Spain and Switzerland.
