Moor View
Moor View
LOCATED near the A38 in Dartmoor, Moor View is accessed via the lanes that pass through California Cross. Here you’ll find a petrol station and late-opening shop, plus a pub that serves food. The site itself is aptly-named and offers stunning panoramic views over rolling countryside. Dartmoor and Western Beacon frame the skyline to this site.

The site itself features 68 pitches, all on neat terraced gravel hardstandings with electric hook-up. Each pitch is quite private with intelligently-planted shrubs, trees and bushes adding both a rural and intimate feel. Everything is neat, tidy and has a well groomed look to it. Three sizes of pitch are offered and can cater for anything from smaller van conversions to A-Class motorhomes and twin-axle caravans.

On site there's a cream-painted brick building that houses a smart modern reception area. This doubles as the shop and offers basic camping supplies - milk, eggs, bread etc. Next to reception is an elegant high-ceiling Velux-window equipped games room that is complete with pool table, table tennis and a computer. There's WiFi on site, too, computer buffs will be pleased to note.

Separate sections of the site additionally cater for static caravans and log cabins - centred around a neat lake - as well as offering a camping field for tents.

The shower and loos are all of a high standard and modern, while there's a handy outdoor covered washing-up area, plus a recycling point and a fully-equipped laundry room. It's also worth noting that on Thursday evenings the owners fry-up fish and chips on site (and they're supposed to be the absolute business, we're reliably informed). For non-Thursday evenings, the nearby pub offers hot meals and proper hand-pulled ales.

However, it's the location and tranquillity of this adults-only site that can't fail to impress you above all else. As well as being a stones-throw from Dartmoor, the beaches of Blackpool Sands are just a short drive away, while, Dartmouth and Plymouth Hoe are also nearby. The picturesque towns of Salcombe and Kingsbridge are well worth visiting, too. For naval history, or just great shopping, head into Plymouth itself, while the South West coastal path is well worth strapping your boots on for.
