Upwood Holiday Park 7.9 miles (approx)

Set in the heart of Brontë country, Upwood Holiday Park is a four-star campsite that has been lovingly upgraded using local materials. Catering for motorhomes, caravans and tents, the facilities building oozes rustic charm and has huge en suite showers and limestone floors. The campsite covers 17 acres, part of which is devoted to static (owned) caravans. There’s plenty to do with a bar and restaurant and, at the weekends, there is entertainment – a guitarist or vocalist perhaps. Ideal for walkers or as a base for exploring this fascinating part of Yorkshire. Haworth is a great place to visit.

High Moor Farm Caravan Park 20.5 miles (approx)

Located on the A59 just four miles from Harrogate, this campsite sits on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. High Moor Farm offers 255 touring pitches and owner-occupied holiday homes in a beautiful rural setting, screened by woodland. Campsite activities include bowling, fishing and a nine-hole golf course. The campsite also has a well-stocked shop, launderette, disabled facilities, indoor pool, games room, play area and a licensed bar.

Crowden Camping & Caravanning Club Campsite 26.1 miles (approx)

Close to the Peak National Park near Crowden Brook - the start of the Pennine Way, this campsite is very much geared around ramblers and cyclists (it now accepts caravans and motorhomes). On-site facilities for the 45 pitches include electric hook-ups, toilets and showers, back-packer facilities and a drying room for wet clothing. The nearby trees offer some shelter. There are camper freezer facilities, a ball games field and dogs are welcome. A cycle route from Tintwhistle runs to Hadfield ('Royston Vasey' from The League of Gentleman). Manchester is under 20 miles away. Non-members welcome.
